Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) is a suite of internationally accepted open standards for digital television. DVB standards are maintained by the DVB Project, an international industry consortium with more than 270 members, and they are published by a Joint Technical Committee (JTC) of European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The 2G network can carry text messages (SMS, Short Messaging Service) along with voice. In addition, a 2G mobile phone often integrates a data modem. It can connect to the internet by making modem calls to certain dial-up service numbers provided by the carrier. A 2G mobile phone can also browse the internet.

1st Generation Mobile Network. 1G network is only capable of transmitting voice via analog signals. The handsets are big, heavy, and expensive. Those 1G mobile phones are “dumb” voice-only terminals. 1G networks and mobile phones have been phrased out in most parts of the world.

3rd Generation Mobile Network. 3G network provides very fast data access to the phones. You can stream audio/video contents on a 3G mobile phone.
